Interesting facts about Pablo Picasso
Picasso’s full name is Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Martyr Patricio Clito Ruíz y Picasso.
His father was a painter and a professor of art at the School of Crafts and the curator of a local museum. Picasso learnt the basics of art from his father.
In 1895, when Picasso was a teenager, his seven-year-old sister died from diphtheria. It was a traumatic event that would also influence his later work.
Pablo had his first exhibit at age 13, when he showed his paintings in the back room of an umbrella store.
Pablo was once brought into police headquarters in Paris co-accused of stealing the Mona Lisa from the Louvre in 1911.
Pablo Picasso died on the 8th of April, 1973 while he and his wife Jacqueline were entertaining friends for dinner. His last words were: ‘Drink to me, drink to my health, you know I can’t drink anymore.’
He created thousands of paintings, prints, sculptures and ceramics during a time span of about 75 years.
