Interesting facts about Rodeo

June 15, 2010 | In: Sport Facts

Rodeo occupies a unique position in modern sports, having developed from an American culture that is rapidly changing. Rodeo is a window into the past while at the same time offers a unique and fully modern sport with an exciting and interesting atmosphere.

The basic idea of this type of Rodeo game is to pin down a calf, driving through in a proper manner around the arena, by a team of two members, each riding on a horse. The members of the team participating in the game are called as Huasos. Corral is nothing but the ground or the space for the game to take place.

Though the game has been recognized as a national sport only in 1962, this interesting game of skill, speed, and stamina had been played in the country since the 1860.

With the disappearing lifestyle of the western frontier, the popularity of rodeo grew, and rodeos began to spread all across the country. Cowboys who had been facing grim prospects could now travel and make a living by rodeo alone.
